More From Dr. Dish
Dr. Dish is a Minnesota based company that derived from Airborne Athletics, home of the AirCAT Volleyball Training Machine - the product that started it all. The first volleyball machine, the SetPro 2000, was created in a Campbell family garage, under the company Volleyball Products International, while looking for ways to make year-round training more accessible. Brothers Jeff Campbell, an engineer, and Doug Campbell, a business and finance major, teamed up to create and patent their first volleyball machine in 1997. Through hard work and continuous innovation, in 2000, Consistent Air Technology was applied to the original volleyball machine to form the first AirCAT Volleyball Training Machine and Airborne Athletics is launched.
Airborne set out with the mission to build athlete confidence through training by offering safe yet effective training tools that can be utilized by all skill levels. The AirCAT helped athletes with hitting, digging, setting and blocking both individually and in team settings. The machine lived up to its claims and empowered athletes and coaches to help reach their dreams and build a legacy. Jeff and Doug saw this as the perfect time to take on a new challenge by expanding into the sport of basketball by creating the company - Dr. Dish. In 2003, the Original Dr. Dish - an automatic basketball shooting machine - was introduced to the market. Expanding on its mission, the Original Dr. Dish offered an opportunity to train at game speeds. The machine featured game-like simulations, allowing players to constantly improve receiving the ball and getting shots up at game speeds outdoors or in gym settings any season. The Original Dr. Dish Machine had one weakness for dedicated athletes who refused to take an offseason, the ability to keep training at home in the backyard or driveway. Dr. Dish provided a solution in 2008 by releasing its first home based rebounder system in the Dr. Dish IC3 Shot Trainer.
The IC3 was designed to collect and return both made and missed shots, allowing athletes to get more shots up without the need for an external power source. The IC3 provided a quick and easy set up with a small storage footprint. Both the IC3 and Original Dr. Dish laid a solid foundation and provided a channel for athletes and coaches feedback on how each are improving their game or programs. This feedback was processed and used to expand Dr. Dish with a new line of machines. Tapping into their innovative beginnings and safety-first compliance, Dr. Dish released a line of smart models packed with state-of-the-art features in 2015. Dr. Dish took sports training equipment innovation to new heights by connecting its smart line of machines to the all-new Dr. Dish App.
The Dr. Dish App is now included with the Dr. Dish Home and commercial models. The membership based app grants access to advanced machine functionality, including custom shooting locations, live shooting data, on-demand trainer-led workouts and more! Members are connected internationally for multi-player action, games, and competitions. Dr. Dish by way of Airborne Athletics has always been a leader in providing innovative sports training equipment. Join the Dr. Dish family and community in our quest to Be Better Everyday.
